Once the biggest cruise ship in the world, Sun Princess has since been overtaken by floating behemoths like the Grand Princess. Now considering a mid-sized ship with big-ship options, the 77,499-ton, 857-foot Sun Princess accommodates 1,950 passengers on cruises to Asia and the South Pacific.
Sun Princess Recreation
Sun Princess offers a mix of traditional cruise ship activities and modern innovative recreational options found on all Princess cruises. Passengers can participate in trivia contests, BINGO, and games like Name that Tune and the Newlywed Game. Outdoor movies are screened poolside with Movies under the Stars. Large-scale productions are featured nightly in the Princess Theater while the Vista Show Lounge showcases cabaret acts such as magicians. Live music can be enjoyed throughout the ship in many bars and lounges, or passengers can spend an evening the Grand Casino. ScholarShip@Sea is the Princess cruise onboard enrichment program, and it offers educational lectures, classes and workshops. Take a break from the excitement in the Lotus Spa, where you can work out in a state-of-the-art fitness center or pamper yourself with salon and spa treatments. Three pools and four hot tubs, golf simulators, shuffleboard, and a sports court are also available onboard. For traditionalists, there's a library and writing room; tech-savvy passengers will appreciate the 24-hour Internet Cafe. The Fun Zone, Teen Center, and kids' splash pool provide dedicated space for passengers under 18.
Sun Princess Food
The Princess cruise dining experience focuses on personal choice, and Sun Princess was one of the first ship's to offer this option. The Regency Dining Room provides traditional cruise dining with fixed seating and tablemates. For a special treat, passengers can make reservations at the Sterling Steakhouse for a fee. The unique Ultimate Balcony Dining experience is also available; passengers will enjoy a private balcony dining experience for breakfast or dinner with in-cabin service. Buffet service is available 24 hours in the Horizon Court, and room service is available around the clock as well. Daily afternoon tea in the dining room is a relaxing way to unwind in the middle of the day. If you're hungry for a mid-day snack, the Trident Grill serves burgers and hot dogs on the pool deck, Sundaes ice cream bar serves complementary soft serve, and Verdi's Pizzeria serves delicious slices.
Sun Princess Staterooms
Princess cruises provide ultimate comfort throughout all cabin classes. Standard inside and outside rooms on Sun Princess are the same except that outside cabins provide incredible ocean views through a picture window or porthole. Attractive decor and cozy space make Sun Princess staterooms comfortable for longer cruises. Passengers can choose between two twin beds or a single queen. Each room is also equipped with a bathroom, shower, desk/vanity combination, generous storage space, mini fridge, safe, and television with many programming options via satellite. Shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are also included. More space, larger balconies, upgraded balcony furniture, whirlpool tubs, and separate seating areas distinguish suites from standard cabins.
